…and on the 7th day we created surf racks…

CIMG1931.JPG

This weekend Chief and I tackled the Surf Rack Project. After about 3 trips to Home Depot and $80, we managed to assemble a solid standing surf rack that holds 7 boards. The design was pretty simple; a basic L-shaped structure framed from 2×4’s with 1″ PVC pipes attached to the posts. Our only real challenge was designing the support systems and my new corded drill that apparently only has a single speed of insanely-fast-drill-through-your-hand-and-everything-else-in-it’s-way speed.

Upcoming skating events…

ER Visit ‘06

CIMG1921.JPGWell, I made it half the year without any hospital trips until yesterday. I decided to go skating (even though there was a voice in my head telling me not to) at Memorial Skatepark. Right away things felt off; my ollies were mediocre at best, I had no accuracy with landings, and I felt disconnected from my board. After resigning myself to a chilled out skate session I started having fun on a ledge doing noseslides and 50-50's. On the last 50-50 my front truck popped out of the grind and I twisted. The rest was a blur; I knew I busted my leg pretty bad and thought it may have been broken. I quickly grabbed my leg to check the bone and found that everything was still in one piece. However, the dark red stain coming from beneath my jeans told a different story. Upon lifting my jeans up I saw a huge gash on my shin and knew from experience it would be stitches. But once I pulled the wound open and saw the bone I realized it may be more than just a few stitches this time. The only good news is that the ER was relatively uncrowded and I got in and out in under an hour. 4 staples later I'm nursing myself back to health. The doc says no skating or surfing for at least 10 days when I get my staples out. But what do they know…
